Flooding Fears, Fog

Thursday morning, the National Weather Service bumped up the odds for major flooding in the Fargo area this spring.  The latest flood outlook shows a 70 percent chance the river in the Fargo area will beat last year’s crest of about 37 feet.   Flooding is already taking place in parts of KELOLAND this year.
Even as the snow starts to melt, Great Bear Recreation Park is still open for business. With so many school kids out of class the next few days, it’s expected that the ski, snowboard and tubing hills will be busy. KELOLAND’s Nicole Winters checks on the end of the season at Great Bear.
Austin Hoffman is in Pine Ridge today, checking on flooding in that area.
And how about that fog this morning!  I couldn’t see more than a block ahead as I drove to work this morning.  Co-workers said it got worse as the morning went on.

GENEVA— The death toll from Ebola in the three West Africa countries hardest hit by the epidemic has risen to 7,573 out of 19,463 confirmed cases recorded there to date, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Wednesday.
Sierra Leone has the most cases, 9,004, while Liberia has the highest death toll, 3,384, according to its latest figures.
Guinea, where the outbreak began a year ago, is the third hardest-hit.

Survivors described how the fire which began on Sunday morning had created chaotic scenes on board, with the crew apparently overwhelmed by the crisis.
Those recued have complained there were initially no fire alarms and no knocks on the door from the crew to awake sleeping passengers as thick and billowing smoke made its way into their cabins.
As passengers tried to escape from the flames by going on to the deck, they were confronted with freezing cold rain and huge waves while heat from the fire below scalded their feet.
It was then that pushing and shoving broke out as passengers fought each other to a lifeboats slot or a helicopter basket.
"Everyone there was trampling on each other to get onto the helicopter,'' Greek truck driver Christos Perlis told the Associated Press news agency from one of the rescue vessels.
